Freighter types
Freighters are large, tough transport ships that can be outfitted with many modifications (see Technology). The established types:
| Type | Established lore |
|---|---|
| Sovereign class freighter | The most common freighter type, used by many. |
| Void Rig detachable freighter | Beloved by solo traders and smugglers alike. The void rig is unique: a frigate-sized ship that attaches to a freighter-sized trailer, so it can detach in the middle of an engagement. |
| Mercurian | Built as a compromise by the Mercurians it is a mix of Destroyer and Freighter which sacrifices its cargo capacity to carry a light broadside. |
| Venusian Cruise ship | Built a venus based ship manufacturer and used to take rich passengers on scientific missions and to view the beautiful planets of the void in comfort. |
| Star Futures Colony ship | Built by the ring based Star Futures Corporation it carries settlers, often the families of flotilla crews or ring citizens who want to start a new life to a newly secured planet (see Life aboard). |
In the stories: Foreman Edgermann's flotilla includes a freighter that processes ore mined from asteroids (see The Ceres Cooperative).
